Historically, the construction industry was dominated by men—a rugged, demanding field where women were underrepresented. But that story is evolving, and women are stepping up, taking on leadership roles, and transforming not only construction but also related industries like architecture, IT, and urban planning. As these sectors increasingly intersect, women are at the forefront of driving innovation and fostering inclusivity.

At Trullii Modular, we’re proud to be part of this change. Though our factory is yet to be built, our leadership team is already setting the tone for an inclusive future. One in three of our top leadership roles is held by women, and our strategic vision ensures that women will be represented and empowered across all levels of the company, from project management to factory operations and executive leadership.

Female Leaders Breaking Barriers

Let’s take a look at some remarkable women who are not only excelling in construction but also leading in industries closely tied to it—fields like architecture, IT, and urban planning that are pivotal to the future of modular building.

Zaha Hadid (1950–2016), renowned architect and the first woman to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize, revolutionized the design of buildings with her bold, fluid, and futuristic concepts. Her projects, from the London Aquatics Centre to the Guangzhou Opera House, defied conventional design norms and paved the way for women in architecture to lead complex, high-profile projects.

Judith Hackitt, chair of Make UK (formerly the Engineering Employers’ Federation), has a rich background in engineering and safety standards. Her work ensures that innovation in construction and related industries is balanced with safety and regulatory compliance, setting new standards for women in leadership across technical and operational roles.

Mariam Kamara, an award-winning urban planner from Niger, focuses on culturally sustainable urban spaces. Her work combines architectural design with urban planning to create socially responsible projects that integrate local communities. Kamara’s innovative approach exemplifies how women are reshaping the urban landscape to better serve people.

Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code, may not be directly in construction, but her influence on IT and the tech industry is undeniable. As construction increasingly embraces digital tools and smart technology, Saujani’s work to close the gender gap in technology empowers women to take leading roles in the intersection of construction and IT, like using AI to optimize building designs and streamline modular processes.

These trailblazing women demonstrate that female leadership in construction and related industries is essential to innovation and progress. Their work not only breaks barriers but also creates opportunities for the next generation of women to excel in fields that are critical to the future of construction.

Trullii’s Strategic Vision: Empowering Women at Every Level

Trullii Modular is dedicated to ensuring that women are at the forefront of these advancements, leading projects that combine cutting-edge technology with sustainable design principles.

Women at the Helm of Trullii Modular

Our Chief Financial Officer, Hanan Toulaney, is a perfect example of the leadership we value at Trullii. Her financial expertise, combined with her strategic vision, ensures that Trullii is not just building homes but building a company culture that values diversity, innovation, and inclusion. Hanan’s leadership is helping to shape Trullii’s growth and influence within the modular construction industry, setting the standard for what female leadership can accomplish.

A Future Built on Diversity

The future of construction—and the related industries that support it—is increasingly diverse, dynamic, and innovative. At Trullii Modular, we’re proud to play a role in this transformation by championing female leadership and creating opportunities for women to thrive at every level of the organization.

Whether it’s women like Zaha Hadid revolutionizing architecture, Mariam Kamara redefining urban planning, or Reshma Saujani closing the gender gap in tech, female leaders are essential to the future of construction. At Trullii, we’re committed to ensuring that women continue to break barriers and lead the way toward a more inclusive, innovative industry.

We’re building more than just homes—we’re building an industry where everyone has the opportunity to lead and succeed. As we grow, we look forward to welcoming more women into our ranks and seeing how their leadership will shape the future of Trullii Modular and the industry as a whole.
